In the realm of unconventional betting options, odds have been established on the apparel brand Tiger Woods may align with following the conclusion of his 27-year sponsorship agreement with Nike, considered the most iconic partnership in golf history.
The 48-year-old Woods, who had been associated with Nike since turning professional in 1996, accumulating over $500 million during the partnership according to Forbes estimates, hinted at a new chapter in a recent social media post but did not divulge specifics.
According to the online sportsbook Bovada, TaylorMade and Greyson Clothiers emerge as the favorites with odds set at +300 to collaborate with Woods next.
There has been speculation that Woods might extend his association with TaylorMade, given his use of the company's clubs since 2017 following Nike's departure from the golf equipment industry. TaylorMade, currently offering a limited selection of apparel on its website, could be looking to expand its presence in the U.S. market, and a partnership with Woods would offer instant visibility.
Greyson Clothiers, whose sponsorships include Justin Thomas, a close friend of Woods on the tour, and potential ties to Woods' 14-year-old son, Charlie, are also in the mix.
Surprisingly, Skechers stands as the next contender with odds at +800, suggesting a successful $100 wager would yield an $800 return. Notable pro golfers under Skechers' sponsorship include Matt Fitzpatrick, the 2022 U.S. Open champion, and two-time LPGA major winner Brooke Henderson.
Bovada lists Under Armour at +1000, followed by Adidas at +1200 and Uniqlo at +1500. Adidas Golf President Jeff Lienhart, acknowledging Woods' significant impact on the golf world, noted Adidas' different approach in recent years, focusing on a younger generation of athletes.
Less probable contenders for a Woods apparel deal, as per Bovada, include Callaway (+3000), Ralph Lauren (+5000), Lululemon (+8000), and Boss (+10000).
Woods, who hinted at potential participation in The Genesis Invitational scheduled for Feb. 15-18 at Riviera Country Club, may unveil his next apparel partnership by then, according to the odds.
